Meet Erin.

Meet your new teacher Erin

From my home studio in the Puyallup valley, I teach piano to students of all ages, from beginners through early advanced players, both in person and online.

I’m passionate about helping you become a lifelong music learner by giving you the tools you need to create great sound. By design, we are creative beings. As you play and improve, you’re motivated to continue. You’ll release perfectionism and learn to enjoy the process of growth.

I’ve taught for 30 years in classroom, choral, and private studio settings. I love to collaborate regularly with school choirs in the Puyallup, Tacoma and Steilacoom districts, as well as in the orchestra pit for local theatre. I’m also a member of Symphony Tacoma Voices.

When you study with me, I’ll help you learn piano both by rote and reading; technique and theory; classical and chording/improvising.

Meet the Piano Cats.

Misha Cat is an older, opinionated calico who loves to sit behind you on the piano bench. She likes head scratches, but stay away from the belly. Because she’s built like a bulldog, she’s not a fan of being picked up.

Bean is a young and frisky gremlin with an owl-like stare. You can pick her up and cuddle her, if you can get her to slow down. Ears are her preferred scratching place, but you can give her belly rubs too. She moved out in November 2021 when my daughter Sam got her own place, but sometimes she comes for a visit.

“There is music in every child.
The teacher’s job is to find it
and nurture it.”
